Meet Leslie Pertz
Who is Leslie Pertz?
My ideal client is someone ready to do the work to find relief from suffering, not just learn to tolerate it. Together, we will identify clear and mutually agreed-upon goals that support meaningful transformation in your life and overall experience.
I consider it an honor to walk with people on their journey of self-exploration, even if only for 45 minutes during a single session. With the right support, we do not feel so alone, and when we no longer feel alone, we can discover the hope we need to move in a new direction toward healing.
I am a certified EMDR therapist in Michigan as reviewed by EMDRIA, the international organization for EMDR clinicians. I am also an approved consultant, which reflects the highest level of EMDRIA training, and I provide professional training and consultation to other EMDR clinicians. View EMDRIA profile.
In addition, I am certified by Postpartum Support International as a perinatal mental health therapist (PMH-C). I am one of the first 15 therapists in Michigan to earn this certification and among approximately 350 worldwide in 2025. Working with a PMH-C therapist ensures that I understand the basics of reproductive issues as they relate to mental health, and I am committed to learning more about your unique story. I am also a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200 through The Yoga Alliance) and a Reiki Master through The International Center for Reiki Training, allowing me to support my clients somatically through yoga, breathwork, and energy healing as part of their therapy journey.
All are welcome here. I have completed advanced training with NASW-MI in Clinical Concerns & Gender Identity, preparing me to work respectfully and affirmatively with transgender and gender non-conforming people.
I have experience treating clients with a wide range of issues, including reproductive and perinatal challenges such as mood and anxiety disorders, birth trauma, infertility, perinatal loss, infant death, unexpected birth events, NICU stays, and perinatal grief. I also support healthcare professionals and therapists, individuals coping with tinnitus, medical trauma, post-COVID treatment trauma, grief and loss, including divorce, job loss, pet loss, retirement transitions, and substance use disorders that impact families. I work extensively with trauma and PTSD of many forms, as well as anxiety and panic disorders.
My practice includes both children and adults, from young children to older adults. I have previous experience working in various healthcare settings, including pediatrics, NICU, mother-baby units, dialysis, inpatient rehabilitation, otolaryngology/audiology, and primary care.
I have also published two peer-reviewed articles and contributed to the Deaf Health Clinic.
